Part three of a three part series on the safety and security of the new 2009 Ford F-150.
Part Three highlights the Braking System features. Part Two highlighted the AdvanceTrac with RSC Components. Part One highlighted the AdvanceTrac RSC.
Braking System Features
- Four channel ABS allows for maximum steering control under hard-braking conditions where lockup may occur
- Front and rear vented rotors, large twin-piston calipers up front and large single-piston calipers in the rear help improve stopping power and reduce vibration during braking
- Disc brakes provide enhanced heat dissipation, resistance to brake fade, longer pad life and improved stopping distances
- Brake Assist recognizes and applies appropriate braking assist when the driver brakes suddenly but without enough force to provide full deceleration
- Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) automatically balances the front-to-rear brake force distribution to reduce the tendency for rear-wheel lockup and optimize braking performance according to vehicle load of passengers, cargo and/or payload
